Jhulan Purnima is a sacred Vaishnava festival that celebrates the divine love and playful pastimes of Shri Shri Radha and Krishna. Observed during the holy month of **Shravan**, this festival symbolizes the beautiful Jhulan Leela, where Radha and Krishna are seated on a swing and gently swung with devotion. It is a time of joy, devotion, kirtan, and remembrance of the divine love of the Lord.
Just like Ras Utsav, Dol Utsav, Janmashtami and other sacred festivals, Jhulan Purnima is also celebrated at Nandi Bari with devotion, tradition and spiritual joy.
**Sacred Beginning of the Festival**
The celebration begins when the temple Purohit (priest), with deep devotion, gently swings the decorated cradle of Shri Shri Radha-Madhav and Shree Radha Rani with his own hands. This marks the sacred beginning of the Jhulan festival.On this day, Radha and Krishna are placed on a beautifully decorated swing, symbolizing their divine **Jhulan Leela**. The sight of the divine couple seated on the swing creates a spiritually uplifting and peaceful atmosphere in the temple.
**Devotional Atmosphere**
The temple premises become filled with kirtan, prayers, and the chanting of holy names**, creating an environment of devotion, peace, and spiritual bliss.
