Jhulan Purnima is a sacred festival in the Vaishnava tradition, celebrated in remembrance of the divine love and pastimes of Sri Sri Radha-Krishna. This auspicious occasion falls on the full moon day of the month of Shravan. On this day, the deities of Radha and Krishna are placed on a beautifully decorated swing, symbolizing their Jhulan Leela, and the festival is observed with devotion, prayers, and rituals.
Just like Ras Utsav, Dol Utsav, Janmashtami, and other traditional celebrations, Jhulan Purnima is also observed at Nandi Bari with deep devotion and rich heritage. Here, a few old photographs of the festival are presented as cherished memories.
Auspicious Beginning of the Festival :-
The festival begins with the temple priest ceremonially setting the swing in motion, placing Sri Sri Radha-Madhav on the decorated Jhulan with great devotion, marking the auspicious start of the celebration.
Beautifully Decorated Jhulan :-
On this day, Sri Sri Radha-Madhav are elegantly adorned and seated on a beautifully decorated swing. The divine and enchanting sight of Radha-Krishna on the swing fills the temple atmosphere with joy and spiritual bliss.
Devotional Atmosphere :-
The temple premises resonates with kirtan, prayers, and naam sankirtan, creating a deeply devotional and serene environment. Devotees gather with reverence to witness and participate in this sacred celebration.
For many years, the Jhulan Festival at Nandi Bari has been celebrated with unwavering devotion, tradition, and spiritual भावना (essence), preserving its cultural and religious significance.
